HOW TO FIND US

We are located on Ko Lipe. Lipe island is located in Tarutao Marine National Park just a kilometer south of Ko Adang. Here are the easiest ways to get to Lipe from the following points:

From Bangkok:

By air - There are 5 - 7 flights daily depending on the time of year. Flights depart Bangkok and arrive at Hat Yai international airport. Take a taxi or van to the city center. From Hat Yai you have many choices of buses, mini vans, and taxis to Pak Bara pier or Tammalang pier for departure to Lipe Island. Hat Yai is the largest city in southern Thailand and it is your best point for transit to and from Lipe. See our website for arrival and departure points for buses, vans and taxis. If you go from Hat Yai to Tammalang pier, you can easily pass through Satun to get there by van. They depart daily every 45 minute.Price is 80 baht one way per person. It is about 10 km. from Satun to Tammalang. If you go directly to Pak Bara pier it is 70 baht per person. The van station located on Rathakarn Rd. opposite of Hat Yai Rail Station.

By bus - There are buses leaving from the Southern Bus Terminal in Bangkok to Hat Yai hourly if not more. There are day buses and overnight sleeper buses. The trip times depend on the quality of the bus and the number of stops it makes along the way. Overnighters take about 11- 12 hours to make the trip. Day buses from 12 - 15 hours. Check the bus station or the bus companies for departure times and current prices. There are non-air-conditioned buses and everything up to VIP buses with only 26 seats. Very comfortable and all for just a few dollars more. Furthermore, there are 2 buses daily from the Southern Bus Terminal in Bangkok to Satun passing by Langu at 07:00 AM and 19:00 PM, it is 535 baht per person

By train - There are 5 trains daily from Bangkok to Hat Yai. The train leaves from the Hualampong Station in central Bangkok. The trip takes at least 16 hours to reach Hat Yai and then you must go to the piers by road. Check the rail station for current times and rates of different services. They offer open air coaches right up to air-conditioned overnight sleeper cars.

From Trang, Krabi and Phuket :

By bus - There are air conditioned buses leaving from Phuket and stopping in Krabi and Trang. They depart daily from Phuket at 08:15 AM, 10:15 AM and 14:50 PM. and arrive in Langu at 15:00, 17:00. and 02:00 AM. Price is 245 baht one way. There are also local non air-conditioned buses leaving from these points throughout the day. Please check at the local bus stations for current departure times and prices.

By taxi - You can take a taxi from Trang or Krabi to Pak Bara. From Trang it is about 500 baht to Pak Bara. From Krabi to Pak Bara is about 1,200 baht. This price is per car not per passenger. You must negotiate the price with the drivers.

From Surathani, Ko Samui, Ko Tao:

By bus - From Ko Samui you can catch the bus directly to Hat Yai. For Ko Tao make your way to Surathani and take a bus, van or taxi to Hat Yai where you will have to switch to another bus, taxi or minivan to go to either Tammalang pier or Pak Bara pier.

From Malaysia and Singapore:

You can take the North-South Expressway to the Sadao Border crossing and then come to Hat Yai. From there you can follow the highway signs going to Phattalung. Take the junction to Satun and follow the signs to either Pak Bara or Tammalang. If you want, you can take the shortcut by leaving the north-south expressway and going to Kuala Perlis where you can catch a boat to Tammalang Pier and then onto Lipe. This is the much shorter preferred route. Or if you wish to bring your car across the border you would have to go through Kangar to the border crossing at Wang Prachan, Thailand and then onto either Pak Bara or Tammalang. It is almost exactly the same distance to either one. This is much shorter than going through Hat Yai by car.

It is really your choice as to which pier you depart from as they both take about the same time to travel from the pier to Lipe. The new boat leaving from Pak Bara this year carries up to 120 people and will make the trip in 3 1/2 hours (450 baht one way, 800 baht roundtrip) and the boat traveling from Tammalang carries 100 people and makes the trip in 2 hours and 20 minutes (500 baht one way, 900 baht roundtrip). The new service offered this year from Pak Bara to Lipe via Ko Bulone Lae will allow people to make a complete circle of the islands in this area without having to come back to Pak Bara between islands. The tickets roundtrip to Lipe can be used on either route (via Bulone Lae or via Tarutao). If you are coming from Hat Yai it is about the same amount of travel time by road to either port (about 2 hours). If you are coming from Phuket, Krabi or Trang then it is much quicker to go from Pak Bara Pier. If you are coming from Hat Yai and you don't think that you can make the 11:00 AM boat departure from Tammalang then it is better to go to Pak Bara where there are many charter boats that you may be able to get a ride on to Lipe.The regular ferry boats leave at 11:00 AM for Lipe via Tarutao Island and at 14:00 for Lipe via Bulone Island and other charter boats depart throughout the day. If you cannot get a boat later in the day from Pak Bara then there are many places to stay near the pier.

Life moves at a leisurely pace here so be prepared to sit back and relax and enjoy the scenery on your way to Lipe Island. Make sure that you keep your eyes open for whale sharks and dolphins, which are spotted on a regular basis.
